Support for Multi-Byte Character Sets

Last updated 23/01/2021

How to set up Cin7 to work with multi-byte character sets.

Overview

Multi-byte character set (MBCS) support allows non-Western languages such as Chinese and Japanese to be display in Cin7.  Some, but not all, fields in Cin7 are able to support MBCS.

Setup and Limitations

Cin7 is able to save and display multi-byte non-Western characters in certain fields like Product Name, Customer Name, and Address.

To enable this support, contact Cin7 Support and identify which fields you would like and the character set you wish to use.

However, there are certain fields that are unable to support these characters. Cin7 Support will identify which, if any, of your identified fields are not able to provide multi-byte support at the time of your request.

Cin7 APIs supports multi-byte characters but multi-byte characters inserted into fields not set up to support multi-byte characters will not display correctly.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Cin7 Support for advice.
