Hiding Products from Certain Customers

It is possible to hide products from certain customers, this article explains how.

Overview

Whilst Cin7 is not currently able to toggle products on and off for specific customers, it is possible to hide products from certain customers using Price Tiers.

Say for example we have a group of 'wholesale' customers who can buy a standard range of products, and we have a group of 'VIP' customers that can buy all the standard products, and in addition can purchase certain VIP products. In our B2B site, we would like the VIP products hidden from our wholesale customers, but available for purchase for our VIP customers.

To do this in Cin7 we would have to allocate one Price Tier to the wholesale customers and one Price Tiers to the VIP customers.

In our wholesale price tier, we would allocate prices to all the standard products, but leave blanks for the VIP products.

In our VIP price tier we would give prices to all products, including the VIP products.

Because there are blanks for the wholesale customers, they will not see these products.

This works really well if you have a few groups that will see different products but is not really feasible if you have custom products that you only want to display to one customer.

Setting up Product Restrictions

There are two things you need to do to set up restrictions like the above example.

Firstly make a change in the B2B Security Options:

1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
2. From the B2B Online Ordering menu select Security Options.
3. Change Show Products Only If Price Exists to Yes.
4. Click Save.
