Connecting Stripe Payment Gateway 


You can either create a new Stripe Gateway with Cin7 or link your existing Stripe Account.

Activating a New Stripe Account

To create a new Stripe Account and connect it to Cin7's payment portal:

  1. Whilst logged in as an administrator, click on your username, top right and click on Settings.
  2. From the Setup menu, click on Payment Portal Configuration.
  3. On the Payment Gateway Tab click on Connect Stripe Gateway.
  4. Confirm the email address to be associated with your Stripe account.
  5. Connect the account to Cin7.
  6. You will now be asked to Activate your Stripe Account. You can choose to do this now or later. (To ensure smooth payment processing and payout scheduling, you should activate your Stripe accounts as soon as possible)

Once the first charge is made on a deferred account, the account holder has one week to activate the account before Stripe blocks further charges. Stripe also blocks charges after a volume threshold is reached, usually around a few thousand dollars. After that threshold, the account must be activated within three weeks before Stripe refunds all charges.

Connecting an Existing Stripe Account

To connect an existing Stripe Account to Cin7's payment portal:

  1. Whilst logged in as an administrator, click on your username, top right and click on Settings.
  2. From the Setup menu, click on Payment Portal Configuration.
  3. On the Payment Gateway Tab click on Connect Stripe Gateway.
  4. Click on Sign In and enter the API Secret Key of your Stripe Account. The API Secret Key is available through the Stripe Dashboard.
  5. Click Connect

Cin7’s Software Fee 0.35% + 29¢ per successful card charge

Stripe charges a conversion fee when your customer pays in another currency. Stripe allows users in some countries to connect multiple bank accounts and make transfers in multiple currencies. To avoid the conversion fee, connect a bank account for each currency.

Does Stripe work with my bank?

A standard bank account with any domiciled financial institution is supported by Stripe.

Are there any industries or types of goods that you can't use Stripe to pay for (eg. firearms, dangerous chemicals)

Stripe doesn’t support certain types of businesses. This list is region specific depending on where the merchant is domiciled. See Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK and US.
