Matching Products between WooCommerce and Cin7

How to match products between WooCommerce and Cin7.


If you have products in both WooCommerce and Cin7, and no products need to be imported to either system, you'll simply need to match products to each other. The matching process allows Cin7 to update information like stock levels and pricing from Cin7 to WooCommerce.

Matching is not necessary for downloading orders.

Matching Products

The matching process is really easy. Products will be loaded from WooCommerce and matches will be made to products in Cin7 based on the code/SKU.

  1. From the left navigation, select Integrations then WooCommerce.
  2. From the Product Status tile, select Download Products.
  3. Select Import All Products.
    This loads the products to compare with existing products in Cin7; this does not import products into Cin7. 
  4. Select Next.
    A summary of matches will be shown in the next page.
  5. Make note of any SKUs that do not match (most likely due to the SKU not being found in Cin7).
    If this is the case, you will either be given the option to remove unmatched products or download them as per the Download Process.
  6. To confirm the matches, select Finish.

Once products are matched, you will also need to add the WooCommerce channel to a product; see detailed instructions below.

Adding Channel Options to Products

Each product has a Channel option that flags products to be updated to WooCommerce.

Products that have been downloaded from WooCommerce to Cin7 will automatically have their Channel option checked.

For stock and pricing to be updated to WooCommerce, you will need to select the channel WooCommerce in the products page.

First, make sure the Channel field exists in the products module:

  1. While logged in as an Administrator, select your username in the top right and then select Settings.
  2. From the Products menu, bottom left, select Product Settings.
  3. Under the Show Channel Options menu, select WooCommerce.
  4. Select Save.

Next update a product or products:

  1. From the products module, choose a product by selecting its name.
  2. From the classifications menu, on the right-hand side, check WooCommerce.
  3. Select Save and Close.

Checking the channel field in the product allows you to update the stock levels and pricing for this product.

Bulk Updating Channels

Products can also be updated in bulk using the Import and Update products process. Multiple channels can be added when updating by separating each channel by a comma in the Channels field. It is critical to ensure the name of the channel matches exactly.

Reviewing or Deleting Matches

If you are unsure how you have matched products or you have matched a product to another product incorrectly you can view product matchings and delete matching as appropriate.

  1. While logged in as an Administrator from the left navigation, select Integrations then WooCommerce.
  2. From the Product Status tile, select View Mapped Products.
  3. In this list, you will be able to see a list of all Cin7 products that have been matched and a list of their WooCommerce IDs.
  4. There are two actions you can take in this list:
    • Delete - deletes matchings that are incorrect
    • Download Products Mappings - downloads in .csv file format the data on display.

Deleting matchings does not affect products in either system, and you can rematch by following the process above if necessary.
