Connecting Cin7 to Shiptheory

Last updated 15/07/2019

This article outlines the steps required to connect your Shiptheory and Cin7 accounts.

Adding Shiptheory to your Cin7 account

To begin, you will need to add the Shiptheory module to your Cin7 account.

To add the module:

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator, from the left navigation,  click Integrations then App Store.
  2. From the App Store, select Shipping then click Shiptheory.
  3. Click Request App Installation.

Cin7 account managers will receive the request and will get in touch with you

Connecting the two accounts

Next, connect the two accounts using your Shiptheory login details.

  1. Log in to Cin7 using your Administrator account.
  2. On the left navigation, under Integrations, select Shiptheory.
  3. Click on the Settings link.
  4. Go to the Connect tab.
  5. Enter the email address and password used to login to your Shiptheory account.
  6. Click Save Connection Settings.
  7. Go back to the Dashboard and click the Test Connection button to make sure you are connected correctly.

Setting up your Shiptheory Account

Your Shiptheory account must be set up correctly before the integration can be used. To get started, ensure that the account has the following features:

  • A complete Shipping Address, including a valid pickup address and phone number.
  • A connection to at least one shipping carrier.
  • At least one shipping rule in place.

Please refer to the Shiptheory Support Site for more complete instructions.

Adding weight to the product page

In order for Shiptheory to correctly assign shipping, you must have applied a weight to each product within the order. The weight field must first be added to the product page.

To add the weight field to the product page:

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator, click on your username, top right, and select Settings.
  2. Click on Product Settings.
  3. Change the Dimensions dropdown to Yes.
Change the Option Weight dropdown to Yes (see below).
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.

Within the product page for each product, there will be a number of new fields. The Weight (KG) field should be used to determine the weight for each product.

Weights in Cin7

Weights can be applied at the product level or the product option level. This means if you have a product with a number of options, where each option has a significantly different weight, you can add a weight to each option.

If you want to populate this field in bulk, you can use the product update feature to do this.
