Setting up Authorize.net

This article explains how to set up Authorize.net for use with Cin7's POS.
Note : Cin7 does not support Authorize.net for new customers. Therefore, we do not recommend this option.


Authorize.net "simplify the payments process and give you tools to help your business grow." Cin7's integration with Authorize.net allows you to connect your POS to your Authorize.net PIN pad.

To use Authorize.net with Cin7's POS, you must do some simple setup tasks, explained below.

Setting up Authorize.net

Finding your Authorize.net details

First, you will need to find some details from your Authorize.net account:

  1. Log into your Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net.
  2. Click Account from the main toolbar.
  3. Click Settings in the main left side menu.
  4. Click API Login ID and Transaction Key in the Security Settings section.
  5. Under Create New Transaction Key, enter your Secret Answer.
    Note: When obtaining a new Transaction Key, you may choose to disable the old Transaction Key by clicking the box titled Disable Old Transaction Key(s). You may want to do this if you suspect your previous Transaction Key is being used fraudulently.
  6. Take note of the the API Login ID and Transaction Key - you'll need it later.
  7. Click Submit.
Adding your Authorize.net details to Cin7

Next, add some configuration details to Cin7.

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
  2. Click on POS Payments.
  3. Change the the Authorize.net dropdown to Yes.
    Some additional fields will appear below.
  4. Enter your API Login ID into the Authorize.Net API Login ID field.
  5. Enter your Transaction Key into the Authorize.Net Transaction Key field.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Linking to a payment option

Next, link your Authorize.net setup to a specific payment method. This means that when you click 'card', for instance, Cin7 will know to push payment information to Tyro. For more information about how to add payment methods see Setting up POS Payments.

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
  2. Click on POS Payments.
  3. Click Edit next to the Card payment option.
  4. From the PIN pad dropdown, select Authorize.net.
  5. Click Save at the bottom of the page to save these settings.

Using your Authorize.net PIN pad

To use the payment method in the POS:

  1. Make a Sale or Return as you usually would.
  2. When you press the associated button in your POS interface, Cin7 POS will prompt you to enter in the customer card details.
  3. A receipt will be printed from Cin7's POS (depending on your receipt setup).
