Setting up Dejavoo

This article explains Dejavoo and how to set up a Dejavoo terminal with Cin7.

Overview

Dejavoo is a POS Payments provider. Their solutions are "designed to facilitate a fast and simple integration with 3rd party Payment Solutions such as Tablets, POS Systems, Restaurant Management Systems, PC’s, Kiosks, etc."

Dejavoo's payment terminals interact with Cin7 without having to be connected to a terminal - making it a great solution for tablets and laptops running our POS.

This article explains how to set up Dejavoo with Cin7.

Preparing your Dejavoo Terminal

First, make sure you have signed up with Dejavoo and have ordered a terminal.

Cin7 is compatible with any of the 'Z' series of terminals. Dejavoo will provide help and training on how the terminals work.

Please ensure your Dejavoo terminal is connected to the internet before proceeding with setup. Terminals that are online will have a message that says 'Terminal Online'. Some clues the terminal is offline include:

  • There is no 'POS Online' message present.
  • The globe symbol has a cross through it.

Setting up Cin7

There are three parts to setting up Cin7, first creating a 'register' for each of the instances of your POS that will use Dejavoo. Then you will need to switch Dejavoo 'on' and finally associate the payment methods in the POS with Dejavoo.

Creating Registers

Each Dejavoo terminal has a Register ID (sometimes called a terminal ID) and an AuthKey that should be provided upon purchase of the unit. You will need to find these details as you will need them later.

To set up a Dejavoo terminal with Cin7:

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
  2. From the POS menu, select POS Register Setup
  3. Click Create New.
  4. Enter the Dejavoo Terminal’s ID into the Register ID field
Take note of this ID, as it will be needed again shortly.
  5. In the Location field, enter a user-friendly name of your choice that will be used to identify this terminal.
  6. In the Terminal Type drop-down select Dejavoo.
  7. Enter the AuthKey into the AuthKey field below.
  8. Click Save.
Switching Dejavoo On

Next, switch Dejavoo 'on' as follows:

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
  2. Click on POS Payments.
  3. From the bottom half of the screen, change the Dejavoo dropdown to Yes.
  4. If you would like the terminal to print a receipt in addition to the POS, set the 'Print Receipt via EFTPoS Terminal' to Yes.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
Associating Payment Methods with Dejavoo

Next, link the Dejavoo terminal to the Payment Methods in Cin7. Typically you will have three methods, one for credit card, one for debit card and a 'manual transaction' backup payment method, in case your connection drops.

Credit Card

  1. Whilst logged in as an Administrator click on your username, top right, then click Settings.
  2. Click on POS Payments.
  3. Click Add New Option to add a new payment method.
  4. Enter 'Credit Card' in the Method field.
  5. Enter 'credit' in the URL field.
  6. Choose SPin from the Pinpad dropdown.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Save at the bottom of the page to save these settings.

Debit Card

  1. In the same screen as above, click Add New Option to add a new payment method.
  2. Enter 'Debit Card' in the Method field.
  3. Enter 'debit' in the URL field.
  4. Choose SPin from the Pinpad dropdown.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page to save these settings.

Manual Transactions

  1. In the same screen as above, click Add New Option to add a new payment method.
  2. Enter 'Manual Card' in the Method field.
  3. Enter 'credit' in the URL field.

You should now have three different payment methods, both associated with Dejavoo. For more details on setting up POS Payments, see Setting up POS Payments.

You may want to make other unused payment options inactive. For more information on these settings, see POS Payment Options.

Using your Dejavoo Terminal with Cin7

To use the payment method in the POS:

  1. Make a Sale or Return as you usually would.
  2. When you press the associated button in your POS interface, Cin7 will automatically pass the amount to the Dejavoo machine assigned with this pinpad.
  3. A receipt will be printed from Cin7's POS (depending on your receipt setup).
