Returning Faulty Products or Refunding without a Product

How to return a faulty product or refund without a product.

Faulty Products


If the product is faulty, you can return a product to a "holding group". This means that the product will not show in your stock numbers but will be kept in the inventory for accounting purposes. At the end of each period, administrators or accountants should write off faulty products and adjust these faulty products out of the holding group.

To return a product as faulty:

  1. Select the menu icon, top left, and from the Returns section select No Receipt.
  2. Enter a product into the product grid.
  3. You will see an option to either:
    Return an item
    - or -
    Sell or Add a replacement product.
  4. Select Return an item to return an item.
  5. You may be asked to enter a quantity
    Note: The quantity is a negative number.
  6. On the left-hand side, change the radio button from Take Now to Faulty.
    If the quantity dialog didn't appear, simply select the quantity of the product in the product grid.
  7. Select Add.

The product will now be returned to the Faulty holding group.

Making a Return without a Product


If the customer does not bring back the product, you should not put a product back into the inventory. Instead, you can choose not to bring any stock back as follows:

  1. Select the Menu icon in top left, and from the Returns section, select No Receipt.
  2. Enter a product into the product grid.
  3. You will see an option to either:
    Return an item
    - or -
    Sell or Add a replacement product.
  4. Select Return an item to return an item.
  5. You will be asked to enter a quantity; note that the quantity is a negative number.
  6. On the left-hand side, change the radio button from Take Now to Do Not Return.
  7. Select Add.

The customer will be refunded as normal but no stock will be added back into the inventory.
